Who We Are
The PhilaTherapy Network is a group therapy practice based in Philadelphia, PA, founded by Dr. Thomas Wood. The name is exactly what it sounds like — Philadelphia + therapy, mashed together — because this city is home, and this work is personal. We specialize in the things that a lot of therapists avoid or treat as an afterthought: sexual health, relationship dynamics, trauma, and identity. Our clinicians work with individuals, couples, and families, both virtually and in-person, across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
We built TPN because we kept hearing the same thing from clients: they’d seen other therapists who either changed the subject when sex came up, didn’t understand their relationship structure, or made them feel like they had to educate their own provider about their identity. That’s exhausting, and it shouldn’t be your job. Every therapist in this network is LGBTQ+ affirming, kink-aware, and knowledgeable about polyamory and ethical non-monogamy. Not because those are buzzwords on a website, but because our clinicians live and breathe this work every day.
If you’re looking for a therapist who won’t flinch at your truth, who actually gets it, and who can meet you wherever you are — you’re in the right place.
What We Believe About Therapy
We’re sex-positive, body-affirming, and anti-oppressive. Those aren’t just words we put in our intake paperwork. They shape how we think about every session, every treatment plan, every conversation. We believe therapy should address the whole person — not just your symptoms, not just whatever you can articulate in the first ten minutes. Your identity, your culture, your relationships, and the systems you navigate every day all matter. They’re not side notes. They’re central to the work.
Every therapist in the network shares these values. That’s not a coincidence — it’s the point. We recruit clinicians who already do this work with care and skill, and then we support them with ongoing consultation, peer learning, and a community that takes these commitments seriously. The result is that you can walk into any session with any TPN therapist and know that nothing you bring up will be met with discomfort or judgment. Sex, kink, gender, polyamory, race, disability, faith, body image — no topic is off the table. Ever.
